There is debate between web professionals: Should you use whitehat or blackhat SEO techniques? The answer is whitehat and this post will give you reasons why you should use whitehat techniques for SEO.
You may wonder how some sites get to the top of search engines without much work. Many times, this is due to them using blackhat techniques to optimize for search engines.
Blackhat techniques are methods of optimizing for search engines in a way that violates their guidelines. These techniques are not illegal, as the rules they break aren’t laws. These techniques will get you to the top of search engines fast. However, there are still reasons why you shouldn’t use blackhat techniques. Some examples of blackhat methods are cloaking, invisible text, spamming, etc.
Whitehat techniques are the opposite of blackhat techniques. Whitehat techniques are accepted by search engines and are considered to be organic. These techniques stay within search engine guidelines and will get you to the top of search engines more slowly than blackhat methods. If you want your website to succeed, you should use whitehat techniques. Some examples of whitehat techniques are guest posting, article marketing, forum posting, and blog commenting. Another less-used definition of whitehat techniques is that they are methods that major search engines not only accept, but like. This is called “true whitehat”. The only true whitehat technique is having quality content and getting backlinks for it. However, you won’t get these backlinks without loyal visitors, and this is where “regular whitehat” comes in.
Greyhat techniques are a mix of both whitehat and blackhat techniques. One example of this is buying links.
Now on to the main topic of this post: Why Use Whitehat SEO Techniques?
1) Avoid Getting Banned Or Penalized
When search engines catch on about you using blackhat techniques, depending on the seriousness , you may be penalized from search engines or even banned. Being penalized means that you go down in search engines. Being banned means that you are removed from search engines altogether. You may be thinking that it is impossible for search engines to find out about your “secret amazing” technique, but this is not true. In short, blackhat SEO tactics are very risky.
2) Long-term Rankings
Whitehat SEO techniques may take longer, but they bring long-term rankings unlike blackhat techniques where as soon as search engines catch on, you fall. In short, blackhat SEO isn’t worth it. (no pun intended)
