Tell A Friend Buttons

Tell A Friend Buttons

By now you have seen tell-a-friend buttons on websites you use. This post will talk about using them effectively in order to increase your website traffic.

Tell-a-friend buttons are becoming more and more effective in the age of sociality. Therefore, I feel that it is necessary to dedicate a post to teach you how to use them effectively.

First of all, what is a tell-a-friend button? Pretty self-explanatory actually, a tell-a-friend button is a button that lets you tell your friends by email about a website or webpage that you like or find interesting. The friend, in turn, clicks on the link because his friend finds it interesting and you have a new visitor! Doing this on a larger scale can multiply your website traffic.

To start, you shouldn’t design your button’s interface and code it unless you really know what you are doing. Nothing prevents a user from sharing like an ugly interface. You may want to use an established “button provider” that gives you a simple code to add a button to your site. We use FreeTellAFriend in order to provide you with an easy way to tell your friends about us. However, we used a custom image for the button in order to make it stand out.

Most importantly, you should make your button noticeable. Our button is colorful and stands out from the rest of the page. It also looks clear and innovative. You don’t have to scroll to see it. You should do something similar if you want your button to bring you website traffic. However, don’t create a popup or disturb the visitor. They will only get frustrated and leave your website altogether.

If you haven’t noticed, we have placed a tell-a-friend button on our sidebar. Feel free to use it if you liked this post or other posts on this blog. (Hint, hint. ;) )
