There are many ways of getting traffic. You probably already know all of the most common ones. But today, I will tell you about some unusual ways of getting traffic to your website that actually work.

Here are some ways of getting traffic to your site that you most likely never thought of:

1) Chain Mails

Chain mails spread like wildfire.  A chain mail is an email that is sent with the purpose of being spread all over the world. You can write the standard chain mail, put your website at the end, and send it to all of your contacts.  The email will be forwarded over and over again and in turn, your website will be visited over and over again.

The hard part of chain mails is making them worthy of forwarding. Don’t base your chain mail around your website and don’t even talk about your website until the end. Make sure your email is innovative and new. Don’t send one of those “You Won’t Believe This!” emails, as nobody forwards them anymore. Send an email that will amaze readers. You can also send a “chain text message” to achieve a similar effect.

2) Set Your Website As The Homepage On Other Computers

You probably have access to many computers. From your cousin’s netbook to a computer at an internet cafe, you will benefit from setting your website as the homepage.

Although most people will not be interested in your site, you still get traffic that CAN turn into signups and conversions. Best of all, this is extremely easy to do.

3) Offer A Sharing Contest

If you haven’t noticed, we are now running a sharing contest. You can do the same.

A sharing contest is a contest where the contestants are asked to promote a site in return for a prize awarded to the person or people that did the most work.

This is a great way to promote your site. If you already have a popular site, hundreds of people may sign up and promote your website for you. In return, all you have to do is give the person who has done the most work a prize. It doesn’t have to be much. Even if you offer $1000 worth of prizes, it is worth it because depending on the current popularity of your website, you can get more than $2000 worth of website promotion.
